Insurance for Cosmetic Nurses

While you focus on boosting your clients' confidence, let us handle the insurance that protects your career.

Why Do Cosmetic Nurses Need Insurance?

Requirements by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) registration standard states that enrolled nurses, registered nurses and nurse practitioners who hold insurance cover in their own name need to retain evidence of their insurance and to provide it to NMBA on request.

According to the NMBA, PII arrangements may be provided:

  • through your private or public sector employer
  • as part of membership of a professional body, trade union or defence organisation
  • through a contract of insurance obtained by you directly from an insurer or through an insurance broker, or
  • through a combination of the above.

  • Competitive pricing.
  • Includes coverage for medical Botox and cosmetic injectables.

Employed Cosmetic Nurses

If you are employed, and you only work for an employer, your employer is likely to have PII arrangements that provide appropriate cover for your practice and the risks involved in your work.

*An employer's PII arrangements will only provide cover for activities you carry out as part of your duties during your employment. If you have undertaken any self-employed work prior to employment, you may need to maintain your own policy to cover for your previous work because this is likely not covered under your employer's policy.

Self-Employed Cosmetic Nurses

If you’re self-employed, you’ll need to make your own PII arrangements.

If you work both employed and self-employed roles, you’ll need separate PII coverage for any independent work, as your employer’s policy doesn’t cover it. Always make sure your coverage is sufficient to protect all aspects of your practice.
